finally fall!

The last couple of weeks we've been blessed with this beautiful fall weather and I couldn't be happier because fall/autumn/harvest is my absolute favorite time of year! I love the leaves changing and all the colors. The crisp air and the smell of burning leaves, bonfires, scary movies and halloween and cuddling up under a blanket eating kettle corn and watching scary Halloween movies. This weekend was no exception. I wanted to get out and have some fun and take advantage of the beauty of this time of year.
Friday night I went out with my all-time favorite group of females. Suzanne(suz) Kathy(the canadian) Sarah(buch buch) and stacy(the diva)! We went out to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays and had yummy sangrias! Then we went to see hte movie Nights in Rodanthe which was a cool idea since Stacey had just been there the week before! It was ok..I didn't care for the ending and I could in NO WAY compare it to the notebook but I had fun with my girls and that's all that mattered! :)
Saturday Lee and I got up early (as usual)and I suprised Lee with some pancakes! Then, we went to the Medieval festival. It was interesting thats for sure. Sword fighting, Jousting, Gypsies, all kinds of weird stuff..i even saw an ogre. It would've been a LOT better if it hadn't been a little foggy and rainy but it was still a great way to spend the morning. After that I took Lee to Lunch at the Fried Pickle. He'd been begging me to take him there and we always kinda forgot about it. the food was amazing...and over the top..dont worry I worked out to make up for it!! Last night Lee suprised me with the Sex and the City Movie. Now I will say that i am NOT a fan of the show. I've never even seen ONE episode. I know weird right? I've never been interested. But I heard you could love the movie regardless of whether or not you've seen the show. THEY were right. It was a great movie. Lee bought it for me because he just got a new dumb video game to play and he needed to keep me occupied for a few hours. So i cuddled up in the bed (WITH THE NEW AWESOME MATRESS!) and watched it. I laughed and cried. I will stil probably never watch the show..but the movie was excellent!

Today we got up and worked out and then headed over to the Pumpkin Patch in Floyd. We had a picnic lunch there and then made our way through the corn maze. I'll admit I got a little frustrated...You know me...everything is a competition. It was fun though! Then, we took a hayride over to the pumpkin patch and picked out a pumpkin. We are going to carve it in a couple of weeks and toast the pumpkin seeds! We've decided we're going to most definetly make this one a tradition especially one day when we have kids. It was a lot of fun! :)




Next weekend we are heading to Kentucky and I am very excited about that. We will be going to the waverly hills sanitorium!

I've wanted to go ever since i saw it on ghost hunters! (i know im a dork) Hope and Chad were going to come too..but Chad is on call at the hospital..so maybe next year! We've been planning this trip for a few months now..lee and I love a good weekend getaway and we're both really looking forward to it! Anyway that's all for now...till next time :)

The Office..they made a TV show of my life!

Ok...so in the last few months or so..I've become a HUGE fan of "The Office!" SO MUCH in fact that Lee and I have bought all four seasons and I've watched them over and over. Two things I can never get enough of. The office. AND Jon and Kate Plus 8! I always told Suzanne that one day I would write a book about all the kooky "characters" in our office because they were all so strange/weird/humerous in their own way. I guess someone else got the same idea. It's such simple comedy. I think anyone who's ever worked in an office can surely relate. The characters are so diverse and different...its so hilarious. I can't even pick my favorite character..I wouldn't know where to start. Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the office and the people who say them....ahhhh!

The Wright Stuff!

These are the cutest kids in the world. The Wright kids. They hail right here from Rocky Mount Virgina and I cant get enough of them! They are also the neice and nephews of one of my friends, Dianne! She just got back from Los Angeles from seeing them perform in the semi-finals of America's got talent! Yay! I love how the cello is twice as big as this kid! :) Cute huh??

Mattress Woes

This weekend was filled with, food, bike riding, and grannies :) Also I want to mention the fact that thursday nite we went out for sushi and it was so good!! i was craving it! Anyway..Friday we hung around the apt and cleaned because Lee's grandma was visiting from Minnesota. She had never been to Roanoke before. She was a sweetheart. We took her out for mexican at Alejandros. We also took her on a tour of Lee's office, the market where she treated us to some yummy bread and peach poundcake and lots of wine! She was pretty pooped after all that so we came back to the apartment to relax. She was leaving the next day so she headed back to Winston with Lee's dad. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon. We were both exhausted and decided instead of napping (what we wanted to do) we'd go for a bike ride. We're trying to do it as much as possible before it gets too cold. We rode out to botetourt and while we were there, purchased Jon and Kate plus 8! yay!! Of course we headed straight home to watch it. I'm so glad Lee likes that show..even if he wont admit it. Also I forgot to mention that after work on friday i went out and bought some things do decorate the apartment for Halloween. I had a few things at my old apartment but I wanted to get some other things. It looks lovely if I do say so myself and Lee was very impressed. He says he enjoys being "seasonal." haha! I was going to wait until Oct to decorate but I just couldn't wait. I'll be the same way when it's time to decorate for christmas! On Sunday we had the pleasure of moving my bed. ITS SUPER HEAVY and very hard to move. Thanks to our good ol pal Jason, we got it there in one peice. Problem is...ITS SO UNCOMFORTABLE! I remembered that it was..but after sleeping on Lee's bed I thought that it would be a real releif. Well, I was wrong. Its so bad in fact that we have purchased a new mattress..or we're in that progress right now. Pray for my back..its only getting worse and worse. We didnt work out that much last week either..and ive noticed when I do work out more, my back feels better. We're doing better this week though! Well thats about it. ALSO, the weather here has been absolutely perfect. everyone knows how much I love fall/autumn/harvest/leaves/pumpkins! I'm so excited about all the things coming up...talk about booked! Friday nite im going out with Suz and Stacy and the girls for dinner and a movie. Saturday Lee and I are going to the medieval festival which i am SO excited about I cant stand it. Sunday Lee and I are going to go to the pumpkin patch in christiansburg for the hayride and the corn maze and hopefully get some pumpkins! In Oct, Hope, Chad, Lee and I are headed to Kentucky for the weekend! That should be fun! Oct 25th we're going to see Old Crowe Medicine Show! LOVE them! Anyways..that is all for now! Going greek

This weekend was great! It was somewhat laid back and a little crazy at the same time. Friday night I met up with Jenny and Jodi at awful arthurs to see the frontiers! They are a journey cover band and everyone knows how much I love Journey! Of course I had to re-purchase my fav CD because someone never gave it back. :( Anyway, Jodi's husband Jesse does security for the band when they're in Roanoke so Jenny and I headed down there. I drank a little more than I thought I would..and ended up having a great time. Saw a lot of good friends and a lot of old friends..so much fun!!
Saturday Lee and I headed over to the Greek Festival! Lee told me he wanted to go for the food. I had the best Gyro I think I have ever had as well as some of those honey donut ball things (it starts with an L) and some greek rice. It was sooo YUMMY!!! BUT, it was soo hot so we HAD to get out of there. We decided instead of going home we'd go to the movies. Lee and I have this thing where If we go to a movie and he picks it then I get to pick the next one and it just keeps going back and forth. WELL, it was my pick and I wanted to see The Women! HAHAHAHA! I think there were two other guys in the whole sold out theater! Anyways the movie is SO good and even Lee liked it. There are no men in the entire movie..it's great! I'm glad we went to see it...however I know I'm going to have to see some outta control guy movie next time we go. After the movie we drove up on the parkway and went to the star. I havent been to the star in a long time and every time I go..i love it! We hung around for a few mins when this girl walks up wearing what looks like a gorgeous wedding dress and had 3 girls with her in matching black dresses and 4 guys in tuxedos. I was about to go congratulate her when I heard her tell someone else it was her "Sweet Sixteen!" OMG talk about over the top. I swear my sweet sixteen I woke up had cake, got the keys to my parent cutless, 10 dollars and treated myself to breakfast at mcdonalds before school. I mean HONESTLY what is the big fat deal? Whatever..I should have thought something was funny when I saw the "groom" wearing braces. After that production we came home and watched the spiderwick chronicles..which was actually pretty good..and a little scary at first..I liked it a lot.
Sunday I slept in a little and layed around for a bit. Then Lee and I decided to ride the bike for a while. We rode out to Botetourt and I took him down a bunch of back roads! It was sooo much fun! We did that for a few hours and then headed back to Roanoke so that Andy and Erin and I could study for our test on Tuesday. I'm glad they came over because apparently I had NO CLUE what I was doing. I love them. It was lots of fun...beer and cheez-its! Hahaha! Anyway that was pretty much the whole weekend..looking forward to the next few weeks..We're taking a weekend spooky Halloween gettaway trip with Chad and Hope in Oct! I'm super excited for that! See Ya'll lata! :)

wow I cannot believe it. This isn't meant to be weird or gross...but I just wanted to share with the world that I have lost pretty much all of my "love handles." Since Lee and I have started this new program I've only lost about 6lbs but I guess the toning and the working out are paying off. They are almost non-exsistent now! I cant believe the results :) I feel so much thinner! I now have to keep my hands in the pockets of my dress pants when I walk to and from work because they are falling off and I havent been able to buy new pants! I was on the sidewalk a couple days ago trying to get something out of my purse and they literally fell off of me..no one saw thank god.. well not that i know of. I'm so happy. I know I write about the weirdest things but COME ON PEOPLE! It's a big deal! Thank you.

This weekend was sooooo much and super busy!! Friday night, the plan was to go to dinner with Amanda and Shane (who just got engaged..congrats!) However..Carilion's direct deposit was messed up! 7000 Carilion employees did not get paid on friday! It was human error and there were a lot of furious employees..INCLUDING ME! I had no money for the entire weekend! I know it's sad that I live paycheck to paycheck but at this point in my life..I have to! So we didnt go out friday nite but we did reschedule with them so maybe this weekend! The date is set for Oct 24, 2009. Yayayaya, Amanda! Anyways, Friday night Lee bought The Office season 4 so we could get caught up for season 5 which starts in two weeks! I'm soooo excited!!
Saturday we headed to Blacksburg for the tech game. We were going to get there early to do some tailgating with Jeff and Alisha but when we woke up it was pouring down rain from "Hannah" and we waited a bit. We ended up getting to the tailgating party around 11 and had soooo much fun..as well as sooo much to drink. My new favorite thing is the miller lite with the twisty tops..its like a mountain dew! You can chug it without the bottle getting stuck to your lips (ok maybe that only happens to me) Needless to say, lee and I dont drink that often anymore so I was drunk after the first beer. Go figure right? And 3 more beers later..well let's just say I had fun ;) Around 130 we walked the short walk to the stadium. I'd never been to a tech game before. It blows my mind how crazy fun that was! We had awesome seats..right in the middle on the 50 yard line! I can so easily get into football when Its in front of me..! Lee kept saying..this is the best day ever (he was a little drunk) and I know that without a DOUBT that I ate the best hot-dog I've ever had in my entire life. FYI. YAY tech won!! After the game we met Hope and had dinner at the roadhouse..that was yummy! I felt a little guilty after all that food/beer and figured I better do a LOT of working out the next day. Well, that was no problem because....
The next day we did the 3 and a half mile hike up to Mcafee's Knob. We rode the bike up the mountain and parked at the bottom. I ended up pulling a muscle about half a mile into the hike because I saw a snake skin in the middle of the trail and thought it was a snake and jumped and pulled a muscle (crazy huh?) My leg hurt all the way up and I complained a lot but I made it to the top! It was so breathtaking we didn't want to leave. We sat up there for a long time. Probably one of my favorite days. (lee might have to disagree with me..i think he wanted to slap me..haha) We finally started back down the mountain and i think we probably had less than 4th of a mile left and thats when it happend. Lee's eyes got really big..and he told me to run ahead..I didn't see it but i heard it..thats right .. a HUGE snake! THANK GOD I didnt see it because I already had to pee and I would've wet my pants! I cried and had a momentary panic attack but I made it to the bottom without a snake bite. We got back on the bike and drove to sonic for a cherry limeade :) Then we rode all the way over to Boones Mill to check out Sundara! I've been wanting to go look at it because I have my sweet little heart set on getting married there. Good thing Lee liked it too! Please..no one jump to conclusions..we are NOT engaged. ..yet..hehe! right lee?? Ok i'll stop. He'll get mad!! ;) Ok my fingers hurt..I'm off to the gym..adios!

Labor day? Labor Week!

Hey everyone! I can't believe its been a whole week since my last blog! I've been soooo busy its ridiculous! (kristin, this is for you!!) haha. Friday nite we went out to dinner at Martin's with some "unexpected guests." It was fun and interesting to say the least! Lee and I weren't expecting them and had already eaten a nice salad for dinner. It was hard to go to Martins and be good but I settled on some shrimp skewers and a couple of beers. Later we went back and consumed a bottle of one and neither of us remember what happend after that. haha :)
Saturday we decided to clean so we could relax the rest of the weekend. Then we both ran a couple of errands. The plan was to go to Caleb's bday party but Jenny called me and wanted to go wedding dress shopping (how could i refuse?!) and Jeff called Lee to come watch the game so we parted ways and met back home for dinner. I cooked jambalaya in the crockpot. Well technically I didn't cook..I threw things in a pot and it turned out great. Not my favorite, but the potroast that Lee made this week was excellent. God Love the crockpot!
Sunday I got up and made my famous Mac and Cheese for the Labor Day cook-out in Botetourt. Normally we don't really do anything for Labor Day, but my family wanted to get together one more time since I will not be joining them for thanksgiving and the next time we'll all be together is christmas! :( We invited Lee's mom to the gathering to meet my family for the first time. I'm pretty sure it was love at first sight!

My family adored her and she loved them also! It was so relaxing. A picnic by the creek..and I actually behaved on my diet too! I did have a soda but I had to drink that over tea because I don't like it. It was a great picnic which I'm hoping we'll make a tradition now!
Monday Lee's mom treated us to breakfast at IHOP. We were all craving pancakes and that just seemed like our next move! It was yummy! After breakfast Lee and his mom took a motorcyle ride and i ran some errands. Then, we met back at the apartment to go to Natural Bridge because she had never been, and neither had Lee. I was like (yawn) natural bridge..how many field trips did i take there?? AND i believe the last one was in 8th grade. WELL I guess I really took that place for granted or didn't care at all in my humble youth, but that place is sooooo GORGEOUS..and i swear I dont remember it being so big! It holds a little bit bigger place in my heart now. We had lunch at the cafe there and then headed home. It was a lovely day. That night Lee's mom left and Lee and I (as we do every week) planned out our meals for the week! We're getting better and better at this.
Tuesday nite I had my new class (WAY BETTER THAN MY OTHER ONE) and got to see my good friends Erin and Andy. I was so happy to see them. I missed them from the spring semester. And after class Erin and I took some time to catch up (esp on the events of saturday nite..thats a whole other blog!) and then I came home to my wonderful man! I got up early on wednesday morning to go to the gym. I decided to weigh myself. I wasnt to excited..I havent lost but one pound over the course of all this diet and I was pretty sure that I'd probably gained that one pound back..well I stepped on the scale and AHHH I lost 5 pounds! i was so happy. My whole day was great yesterday because of this. It just goes to show that eating better and working out really works! who would've thought? haha! Well gotta get back to work..have a great weekend!!
