This was probably one of the greatest weekends I have had in a long time. Of course I got to spend it with my one and only! This weekend we celebrated being together for one year and we couldn't be any happier! We stayed at a quaint little bed and breakfast on Smith Mountain Lake and it was absolutely wonderful..this blog is probably going to be very long because I want to remember every detail of this weekend!!
Anniversary festivities started on Friday when Lee suprised me at work with a beautiful boquet of tiger lillies and princess lillies (my favorite flowers are lillies) and each pair of flowers had a note attached with a memory we had together..from watching shooting stars..to our trip to busch gardens..to our song together...i melted. I couldn't believe he thought of it...I mean..no words.
Friday after work we left and had dinner on our way there. After about an hour we arrived at the bed and breakfast. The drive up there was beautiful! Dawn (the owner) immediately showed us around the inn. The property was gorgeous. Beautiful views of the lake...to be observed from the deck or hot tub...a private beach..24 hour wine service, a bar full of snacks and drinks..and gardens, hills...the works! The inside of the house looked like a sweet grandmothers cottage in London or something. The breakfast are was set up like a little tea party. Our room was huge!! We had our own private bath, our own robes and slippers, huge bed and our own private balcony as well as a sitting area in the room! We were pampered. The first nite we took a bottle of wine down to the beach and relaxed and watched the sunset. That night we were going to get in the hot tub but it was so hot outside it seemed pointless..plus we use the one at the apts so it wasnt that big of a deal to us. Downstairs they had a room full of movies and games so we watched a movie before passing out!
Saturday Morning we were served a delicious breakfast. Waffles with bananas foster and a caramel sauce with bacon and cranberry cocktail!! YUMMY!! After breakfast we got ready and decided to go rent a boat for the day. Well..unfortuneatly most of the boats we could afford were already rented ...so we drove over to Smith Mountain Lake state park and rented a paddle boat for two hours!! Hilarious..we had a ball. I DEFINETLY forgot to put sunscreen on my legs..who does that.?? and after..2 HOURS in the direct sunlight..mid day..needless to say I was VERY VERY red...OUCH!! After that we drove to a little restaurant called the white house restaurant and had some yummy crab cakes and sandwiches. We decided after lunch to drive around and look at all the beautful houses and properties around the area. We found one house that we absolutely loved..for sale...and want it...hmmmmm..we'll see!!!!! In the meantime it was getting ready to storm and we thought..what would be better than sitting on our screened in porch and watching the storm over the lake?? it was awesome....I love the way the water swirled all around the lake..it was a pretty severe storm and we had a perfect view. After the storm and finishing yet another bottle of wine, we both got dressed up for our private dinner and our porch!! Just in time for sunset! Our cute little waitresses Brooke and Katherine (the neices of the owners) did a great job! We gave them a good little tip! First we were served this southwestern dip with crackers for an appetizer. Then this amazing salad with this homemade asian dressing! We also had garlic and bruschetta bread and then the main course was steak and veggies..followed up by a straweberry shortcake..not to mention..yet another bottle of wine!! After dinner we decided to relax for a bit...it was a great day.
Sunday we awoke to another fabulous breakfast! Sausage and egg strata, cranberry muffins with honey butter, biscotte, fruit and grape juice cocktail!!! YUMMY AGAIN! after breakfast we packed up and spent a little more time on our porch and in our room...and then went out on a boat cruise on the lake! What a beautiful day for that...fresh after the storm! We just loved sharing the boat with the little doggie.. OREO!!! We're getting one!! :) yay!!! We left around noon..and got back in time to spend some at the apartment run some errands and then Lee made me dinner. I was a weekend I will never forget..I love him so much..I cant wait for another year together!!!! Everyone, have a wonderful week!!
