car trouble..again!!
So...Monday, I head off to work..and my car breaks down! That's two cars in less than two weeks. So yes folks, now I'm on the hunt for a new car...here we go again!! On a happier note I have to say that last week we had dinner at Seth and Julie's..then the guys headed off to the movies and Julie and I basically sat and talked for 3 hours! I love her! We have so much in common..it's been a long time since I clicked with someone so well...VERY long time and its refreshing! We're heading to Roanoke this weekend to spend some time with family and friends..and im ecstatic! I LOVE living at the beach and its really starting to feel like home! I didn't expect this to happen so quickly..but it has. Roanoke will always be my number one home though! We are looking to buy a house next year after our lease is up somewhere in Chesapeake or maybe VA Beach..we're not sure yet! Well that's all for now..I'm off to make dinner and start packing for the Noke! Short and sweet!

Car trouble!!
Well, since we've moved to the beach we've had a lot of money issues and things hitting us all at once. As most of you know, Lee's car never has been in the greatest of shape..i mean its 13 years old!! About 4 weeks ago..something happend to the car..it decided to slowly die on us. First it was the radiator or something like that..maybe I belt.. I don't know. Whatever it was..it was 300 dollars to fix!! OK so we fixed that. THEN, a WEEK later mind you, something else was wrong! (see this is why Lee needs to blog because I know NOTHING about cars!) ANYWAY, that was another 300 we had to shell out! With our other expenses..a few of them suprises..we were hit AGAIN a week later with Lee's car breaking down on the side of the interstate! It was the Sunday that I was coming home from Roanoke...Jeff was in Williamsburg and Lee was going to meet him to hang out at the farm for awhile. Here's the kicker: Thursday night (the day before I left for Roanoke) I told Lee that I REALLY wanted him to ride with me..I just had this horrible feeling that my car was going to break down..and in my head I could see myself standing on the side of 64 somewhere around or before Williamsburg. The thought was SO crystal clear in my head that I could not shake it and I BEGGED him to go with me..because I most certainly didnt want to break down on the side of a busy interstate alone!! He told me I was crazy and got mad at me and told me he wasn't going and to get over it! HMMMMMMMMMM....it's funny..now I realize that those visions I were having were for him and not me..my gut instinct was so right on..I just had a feeling. Anyway..to make a long story longer, he had the car towed back to the beach to find out the damages. YUP 1200 dollars and our precious little green saturn would be renewed to her rickety former self. I said forget it Lee (as we were told the car was worth 170 bones) Let's just get a new car! We had planned on getting a new car but wanted to wait a bit longer before we did...it seemed now was as good a time as any..we couldn't afford to keep fixing the car!!
So after MUCH debating..and much deliberation..and several test drives..Lee did not get his first choice :( THAT'S because his SECOND CHOICE (my first choice) won in the long run! Say hello to our BRAND NEW (but slightly used) 2007 Charcoal Gray Honda Accord that we deemed SHAWANDA!! She's a beauty ladies and gentlemen. With only 20,000 miles on her...in perfect condition..fully loaded (and when I say loaded I mean lots of room (we wanted to make sure we had room for our babies in the backseat!) ;) She purrs..she coos and she's all ours!! She drives like a dream.. we dubbed her Shawanda because Lee's brother has a 1992 honda (STILL KICKIN') and her name is Duwanda..so now Duwanda has a much younger and prettier little sister!..In a couple of years Lee plans on getting a truck and little Shawanda will be all mine..MUAHAHAHAHAHA :)
So anyway...that's the story of the little green Saturn that couldn't and the great big Honda that COULD make me the happiest girl in the world.. I will post pictures soon!!

Girls just wanna have Fu-UN!
Sorry I haven't been updating this blog very well lately! I've been so busy with work and everything and getting used to this new schedule is exhausting! I get up between 5 and 530 just to leave my house by 7..just to make it to the shuttle by 730 just to get to work at 8. I miss the days of waking up at 630..walking the block to work and getting there at 7.. oh well! I still love my job..its probably the best job I've ever had!!
Anyway..so this past weekend I headed back to Roanoke for Jenny's bridal shower. I knew that this was the only one I would be able to attend and this was for her bridesmaids and friends and some family! Friday nite I head to Roanoke right after work. I was a little anxious about the long drive for some reason but as soon as I hit Charlottesville and saw those beautiful mountains I was soooo happy! I got to my dad's around 1030 and hung out with him for a bit and then went straight to bed! I had to get up pretty early to make crab dip for the shower! Then I had to meet Jenny at Bride's house to try on my bridesmaid dress for the first time...! LUCKY ME!! It was too big!! Yes, I lost some weight! The funny thing was that it was big even through my boobs which for the most part is impossible because they're so gynormous..so anyway I was pleased and the alterations are pretty cheap too! The dress is gorgeous...I don't wanna post the pictures of the full dress because I don't know if Chase has seen them yet and I don't know if she'll want to keep it a suprise so for what its' worth...not doing it :)
After the dress drama I headed over to the shower location to help Ashley finish setting up. I'm really upset about not being able to devote time money and energy into my best friends bridal shower..the move hit us hard and we had a LOT of crazy expenses hit us all at once...she deserves the best because she is the best! I know she understood though..that's why she's the best! We did lots of fun things at the shower..let me elaborate!

We ate cake..

We opened gifts..

Wait for it..

That's right..its from her NANA!! And I don't know if you can tell by the expression on her face but she seems thrilled..

Others were less amused..as seen here knitting and rolling her eyes..

we told funny stories..

played silly games.. Megan looks thrilled to be a bride again..

we even had our very own KKK meeting..

the end result..
all in all..the afternoon got a little crazy..i think some people had a little too much punch if you know what i'm sayin... haha kidding!
After the shower, Jenny and I went to the mall so that she could pick up a few peices of her china with some gift cards that she had received. I met up with Hope and Bobby and Lily at the mall before heading to dinner!! Lily didn't seem to feel too well and Bobby took her home while Hope and I had the ultimate girls night..gabbing, snacking and watching bride wars..for the millionth time! Hope is so excited for our wedding..I gave cute card with a poem inside asking her to be my bridesmaid when she visited the beach and also included with that was a book on being a bridesmaid! She's never been a bridesmaid before so she's really excited!
The next day I just had to go meet my favorite girl..Suzanne! We decided to go to Fork in the City for lunch! Of course, it was awesome and just as cool as Fork in the Alley but in a bigger setting and in a different part of town...I loved it! We probably had a 3 hour lunch and the waiter was dying to get rid of us but we had so much to catch up on! After lunch and talking in her car for an hour it was time for me to head back to the beach..but not before stopping by Jen's new house to see our good friend, Natalie! I was so excited! She came up here from Alabama to go with her mom to a springsteen concert! I haven't seen her in years..the three of us were like the three musketeers and never missed a year of camp together..some of the greatest memories I have were with jenny and Natalie! I'm so excited that she and her husband josh will be coming to the wedding..actually Natalie is another bridesmaid! Love you girl!

The ride home was just as enjoyable as the ride to Roanoke..its always good to come home and see the mountains but I get a thrill of excitement when I head back to the beach and start to cross over the water and the bridges and smell the ocean..I love both places equally! It was so much fun to hang out with my girls this weekend! Lee and I will both be coming home for Memorial Day weekend and where we'll go to a family BBQ..and I'll have my final dress fitting! Can't wait to see everyone again!

Beach Bums :)
Now that 90+ degree weather has set in, I'm starting to actually feel like a beach resident. Perhaps because it feels much cooler when you're laying on that beach and feeling that ocean breeze..jealous yet?? just kidding :)
After a great week at work it finally came to an end. This was the first week I was let loose on my own. I think I did a pretty good job. A little difficult at first finding my comfort zone but now I love the job and believe it or not I'm actually getting used to the commute home in the evenings! Friday night Lee's mom drove from NC to see us! She got in around 10:00..we were all exhausted and i was ready for bed but what did we do? We headed out on the town for the ultimate crab nachos and beer at Tautog's!! Seriously best nacho's ever..and I'm hard to impress with nachos! We all so had some yummy she-crab soup and bread..YUMMO! (can you tell that we've really enjoyd our culinary happenings around this town??) After a late night binge we headed home only to find this:
Lee opened the door to find that something was blocking it and the tall lamp that sits next to the couch was laying in front of the door. To our left was a huge pile of shattered glass. Yes folks our cats had some kind of frenzy in our living room and knocked over our lamp and shattered it to pieces. I for one was ecstatic because I've been begging Lee to let us get new lamps..I just wish I had a picture! The cats looked incredibly guilty and ashamed..it was really cute! We're just glad the house didn't catch on fire and trap our precious furbabies inside!!
The next morning we woke up early because we were determined to spend a gorgeous day at the beach! We decided to go have brunch at Citrus! BEST EGGS BENEDICT EVER! AND they serve their freshly squeezed orange juice in a champagne flute..no not mimosas really, just orange juice! (sometimes I wonder if I'm writing for the wrong blog..maybe I should be a food critic) Anyway we headed over to First Landing and the beach was AWESOME! We got plenty of sunshine and played in the water..it was 93 degrees!
Julie, Lee, and I just sat in our cozy chairs for the entire day! We realized that we really need to invest in an umbrella...I think we were pretty much sunburned after 10 mins! Add that one to the list! Julie had to leave late afternoon but Lee really wanted to take her to Chicks
(our fav place)
and we had some yummy calimari, shrimp and fish tacos! THEN we went back to our place and grabbed our car and went BACK to the beach to meet Seth and Julie and little Leira! hung out with them and talked the day away until sunset! I was so happy to finally meet Julie and Cakey (Leira) who's official full name is...ahem: Leira Cake Jewel Drool Drama Queen Parsons...(i think i got that right!)

She just turned 6 months old and is a cutie! I'm so happy that Seth lives down here..we look forward to hanging out with them as much as we can! I'm sure I'll see Seth around work since he is in Med School at EVMS..I even saw him chatting it up with a bunch of white coats in the CAFE the other day! After a long hot day we headed home to cool off with a movie and a popsicle! :)
We woke up this morning with the intentions of going to church but I couldn't move! My sunburn..I guess I'll never learn my lesson..even though I've been tanning for about a month now for our Cancun trip..oh well! I finally managed to get up and made some yummy pancakes for breakfast. Those are a treat because I hate making them! Later we decided that since it was so beautiful we felt like we had to grill out! We headed over to home depot to purchase a grill! WOOOOHOOO! I also managed to squeeze in a new pair of scrubs and some groceries...and lunch at Cafe Fresh..LOVE it!
I was so happy to get home in the AC! I'm so not ready for miserable summer temps..I was looking forward to at least one or two 80 degree days first..not 68 and then skipping all the way to 96! I cleaned up a little and cooled off and Lee put the grill together! We made some Sesame ginger chicken, corn on the cob, and canteloupe! it was magnificent...and now we are finishing off our fabulous summer weekend with some lime jello and the red sox/yankee game...GO SOX! Hope everyone had a great weekend...thanks for tuning in to my weekly foodie..haha..see ya next week!

life at the beach continues...and keeps getting better!
This weekend was so much fun! Friday I was really stressed...due to the fact that I had almost a 2 hour commute home. Most of the time if you live in VA Beach and work in Norfolk.. you can expect at least an hour commute and 2 hours if it's Friday. I love my job! I love the people and the company..everything about it, except the commute! BUT its nothing I have any control over and when i've worked here for awhile I can transfer to a CHKD outpatient center that is closer to home. On the school front, I don't want to get too far behind on that either. Last spring when I started back it was wonderful and I made straight A's! I didn't want to get back into it until I figured out my schedule here and figured out traffic and stuff. You really have to plan for traffic or you'll be screwed. So, I plan on starting school again in the fall and taking the summer off. We have SOOO much going on this summer anyway. SO, needless to say Friday I was stressed and Lee and I went to have dinner and drinks and then we came home to watch a movie..where I passed out! Yes, that was my Friday!! haha!
Saturday we got up with the intention of doing some laundry and getting some stuff done. NOT the case! It was a GORGEOUS day...perfect! About 75 degress which here, with the breeze from the ocean..was perfect! We decided to head down to the beach only to find that there was an awesome car show going on! We walked up and down the boardwalk just looking at cool cars and people watching! Then, we headed over to the strip and grabbed a quick bite and then strolled back up the beach with our feetsies in the water! We did a LOT of walking but it was gorgeous and I got a lot of sun which I needed. After we spent a few hours at the beach we headed over to Ghent in Norfolk for some much needed touring around and then to best buy. YES, we now have EVERY single super nintendo game (YES SUPER NINTENDO) On our computer! So what did we do?? Yeah till all hours of the morning! Lee always wants me to play video games with him and I refuse to play his stupid games that he plays for hours on end on rare occasions (he's finally starting to grow out of it a bit!!) but I told him if he actually got a game that I enjoyed I would play him..and of course I whooped his butt at Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, and Super Mario. I'm a natural what can I say? We did for a moment pause and take a walk through the neighborhood to get some air and a little more exercise..it was much needed!
Sunday, we slept in a bit and got ready for the day. We headed to Norfolk for the Culinary expo! We had so much fun going around and sampling food from area vendors, restaurants, bakeries..etc! We even had to tickets to see Emeril! Yes, Emeril Lagasse! BAM! He was very entertaining. I have pictures that I will post once I find the camera..i saw it this morning and now its gone..of course! Anyone who religiously reads my blog knows that I'm a huge food network fan..and even though it was no Paula Deen or Giada or Rachael..it was still awesome! Sunday night we decided to wind down and FINALLY do our laundry and treat ourselves to a yummy dinner from Jason's Deli..(one of Lee's favorite places). There's nothing like perfect weather to make for an awesome weekend!! Have a great week, everyone! :)

Easter Weekend
On Easter weekend we headed back to Roanoke to spend time with a few of our friends and family! Friday night Lee got off work sorta late and we left here early evening and went to my dad's to stay for the night! I know it had only been a few weeks since I was there but I missed him like Crazy! I love my dad!! We woke up to an awesome french toast breakfast. We spent some time together that morning before heading to Roanoke for lunch and to meet some friends! let's just say the visit was much needed!! That afternoon we stopped off and got some essentials and headed up to Stone Coal Gap to Jeff and Alisha's cabin! It was so good to see them! We hung out by the fire, sang (YES SANG) Alisha is good at guitar, and ate ribs and chicken and smores and drank a few brewskies! AHHH Brewskie..didn't stand a chance..! After a long evening we headed off to bed in front of the warm wood-stove which was great because it was pretty chilly that night!
The next morning we went to my parents house to spend some time with them before the rest of the family got there for Easter Dunch! it was soooo great seeing everyone! I LOVE my family. AND they LOVE Lee and always look forward to seeing them. No one ever argues, curses, or yells..its wonderful :) I'm so very lucky! Lee's mom and C-money were going to come up but they couldn't make it..plus they were exhausted from their big Easter Lunch..we are sooo looking forward to Julie coming to stay with us soon..as well as our camp-out on the beach! After spending as much time as we could with the Fam it was time to head home! It went by sooo fast :( But, we had to leave because I was to start my new job the next day! The job is still going great..I can't believe its already been a whole week!
I'm looking forward to the weekend..there's so much to do here!! We may go to the culinary expo this weekend and see EMERIL LIVE!! I'm crossing my fingers but if not we it'll be ok! I'm looking forward to seeing Seth and Julie on Sunday..and little Leira! AND last but not least..Lee is getting Aerosmith tickets tomorrow!! I'm so excited!!! I love Aerosmith..I've seen them once before with KISS and they were awesome! I guess its to make up for the fact that I wont be going to see the New Kids on the Block (bummer, right Tracy??) DUE to the fact that I will be in Cancun..hmmm :) Well hope everyone had a wonderful Easter and has a great weekend!! Adios!
xoxoxo

A visit from Johnny and Eric

All I have to say about them visiting is THIS!!
I had a blast doing the following:
Playing Frisbee Golf and practically kicking everyone's BUTT (or coming in last)
Eating Raw Oysters and Steamed Clams..and various other not quite dead seafood things
Hot Tuna (enough said) Would've been better if it wasn't for the Dragon
last but not least
DuWanda
Thank YOU, John and Eric!
Most importantly for the memories and for the phone call we got from your mom sayin' how you run not one but SEVERAL toll booths on the way home!..silly boys :)
PS: Eric, thank you for agreeing to play the violin at our wedding...this makes me happy
